This programme offers a unique chance for a lucky candidate to earn while they learn (receiving a competitive salary & full market leading benefits), gaining industry experience without taking on the debt often associated with university. It is a fast‑track route to achieving the CII Diploma level qualification in just 3.5 years, supported throughout by experienced professionals who will guide, mentor, and develop them.

Flexible Start Dates

The successful candidate can choose when they begin, the choice is entirely theirs:

• Start immediately in July, or
• Enjoy the summer after exams and begin a little later in August or September.

Entry Requirements

No previous insurance experience is required. We’re looking for candidates who are:

• Eager and willing to learn
• Motivated, curious, and positive
• Ready to commit to a supported and structured development journey

Minimum academic requirement:

• 5 GCSEs at A–C (4–9) including Maths and English

Underwriter - Commercial

Purpose of the role

We are seeking a confident and engaging Underwriter/Insurance professional to join our Commercial team. You will be responsible for managing our SME platform, underwriting cases within agreed processes and risk appetite, to achieve business development and retention targets. You will play a pivotal role within our business, assisting with the performance and success of our Commercial team and our SME proposition.

You will spend the majority of your time working with our brokers identifying, discussing and converting new and existing business opportunities and making effective underwriting decisions. You will apply a range of underwriting, relationship management and business development techniques to retain existing and win new business opportunities, within our defined risk appetite. You will have a passion for service delivery, great customer relationship skills and be a good communicator and team player.

You will assist in maintaining and developing an underwriting/client portfolio, managing how we are tracking against key performance indicators and supporting colleagues in the wider team as required.

Skills & experience required

Ideally you will have underwriting experience/industry experience and possess CII qualifications. Experience of working with insurance brokers across a range of insurance products would be beneficial. You will be self-motivated, organised, be able to work under own initiative to deadlines and committed to providing excellent customer service with close attention to detail and accuracy.
